Kevin Hart

Of Kevin Hart's poetry Harold Bloom has written: 'The most outstanding Australian poet of his generation ... One of the major living poets in the English language ... Kevin Hart is an erudite poet, but converts his learning into passion. He is a visionary of desire and its limits'.

And Charles Simic has said: 'Kevin Hart is one of the finest poets writing in English today. I admire his erudition, and his imagination, the way history, art, myth, literature and many things come together in his poetry. This book will be a feast for those who want poetry to be both metaphysics and song. An absolutely original and indispensable poet'.

Kevin Hart is the author of seven collections of poetry, the most recent being Flame Tree: Selected Poems (Bloodaxe/Paperbark, 2002) and Wicked Heat (Paperbark, 1999).

His poetry has won both the NSW and Victorian Premier's Prizes for Poetry, the Christopher Brennan Award, the Wesley Michel Wright Award for Poetry, the Harri Jones Award for Poetry, and the John Shaw Neilson Award for Poetry. He is Professor of English at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
